Case studies – Caverion

Objective:

To develop the leadership capability of line management globally so that they can lead their teams to work in a harmonised way, deliver value to the customer and achieve growth and profitability targets.

Context:

Caverion designs, builds, operates and maintains intelligent and energy-efficient solutions for buildings, industries and infrastructures in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe.

In 2014, group sales totalled EUR 2.4 billion. The group has 17,000 employees in 12 countries in Northern, Central and Eastern Europe.

Approach:

The programme was created as a result of a series of collaborative cross functional design meetings and internal analysis to identify the changes in behaviour and ways of working required.
Once programme objectives and critical success factors were identified, we worked with the global HR team to develop a 3 day leadership programme that was aligned to profitability targets and focused on creating high performing teams that can work in a harmonised way to deliver value to the customer.

The programme has been adapted in order to reflect the geographical business needs of each country and so far has been delivered by BLT trainers in a combination of English, German, Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish.
By the end of the rollout, Denmark and Eastern Europe will have been covered and more than 700 people will have been trained.

Results:

Immediately after the training, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with managers sighting a refreshed drive to really harmonise the way their teams work and to focus team effort on delivering value to the customer.
We are currently in the process of rolling out a comprehensive evaluation initiative to track the progress of each individual on the programme and to identify the impact on the business results. We will be using this data to measure return on investment and to adapt and refine the programme as part of continuous improvement to ensure it is fully aligned to the needs of future groups.
